2026-11-02 God’s Provision – Richly and Daily

The Apostles Creed

“I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.” Psalm 37:25

In the Apostles’ Creed we declare that we “believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.” Of course, God did much more than create the earth and the universe, He also sustains it. He keeps it running and provides for every living thing. But God doesn’t merely give us enough to get by. He provides what we need and more. Martin Luther used the words “richly and daily.”

This passage from one of David’s Psalms underscores that truth. The Psalmist David, as directed by the Holy Spirit, makes an observation. He has lived a long life and no doubt seen many things. However, one thing that he is yet to see is the righteous (believers) forsaken OR his descendants begging bread. We agree that God is gracious…but when we compare God’s graciousness to any other kind…there is no real comparison.

I have had the opportunity to travel overseas to third world countries. It’s truly eye opening. We in the United States have all that we need and more. We are rich, though we would not define ourselves as wealthy. We don’t just have what we need…we have what we want…and we have it all in abundance. It’s true. God provides richly and daily.

I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus; Never let me fall.
I am trusting Thee forever And for all. Amen.
