Noah
He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. Genesis 8:10 NIV
Life on the ark during the flood was cramped and challenging, filled with animals and uncertainty. Noah may have felt abandoned at times but trusted in God’s timing.
Once the floodwaters began to recede, Noah did not rush out of the ark. He waited for God’s direction. Even after sending out a dove and seeing signs of dry land, Noah stayed put until God said, “Come out.” That kind of patience is rare—and powerful.
Waiting is one of the hardest disciplines of faith. We live in a world that prizes speed and instant results, but God often works through seasons of waiting to shape our character. Noah’s patience not only preserved his family, it honored God’s timing.
Jesus also modeled perfect patience. He waited for the Father’s timing in everything—from the start of His ministry to the cross and even His impending return. Galatians 4:4 says, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son.” God’s timing is never random; it is always purposeful. Jesus trusted His Father completely, even when the path led to suffering, because He knew the plan was perfect.
When you grow impatient, look to Christ. His patience secured our salvation, and His Spirit empowers us to wait with hope. Waiting does not mean doing nothing. It means actively trusting that God knows what is best. Like Noah, we can rest in the assurance that God’s timing will never fail.
Lord, teach me to wait on You. Thank You for Jesus, who trusted Your timing perfectly. Help me rest in Your plan and resist the urge to rush ahead on my own. Amen.
