1. Immediately after telling us to lay up treasures in heaven, Jesus says: “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6: 22) Pray about your eyes that God would keep them focused on His heavenly treasures. Journal about some areas of your life that bring darkness and also some gifts from God that bring light.
2. In Matthew 6, Jesus continues with these words: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (earthly possessions).” (6:24) Pray about your relationship with Jesus, that He would be your one and only Lord and Master. Journal about some areas of life that are threatening to enslave you, and some passages that promise freedom through Jesus (Ephesians 1; Mark 5; Romans 8)
