2025-05-10 Weekend Rest Journal

1. Read all of 1 Corinthians 15 and see how it forms the basis for Paul’s admonition to be steadfast and immovable.

2. On the words “always abounding in the work of the Lord,” an old commentary offers these thoughts: “It should sweeten our daily toil and breathe into our recreations and amusements.” (The Pulpit Commentary) Think about how the Lord gives us opportunities for abounding in His work in our daily activities, both in work and in recreation. Write down some of your reflections.

3. 1 Corinthians 15:58 assures us that our labor in the Lord is not in vain. Consider how the Lord encourages us in another similar passage, Galatians 6:9.

4. It is entirely by the Lord’s resurrection life and power that our work is fruitful. Look at how Paul teaches this in 1 Corinthians 3:6, 7.

5. The promise in 1 Corinthians 15:58 inspires faith and patience for steadfastness and labor, which we need, because we do not always see the fruit. See how James 5:7, 8 uses the experience of the famer to get across this same thought.
