Christ In You
Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” John 14:22-23
“There’s no place like home!” At least no place like a loving home. Home is where we are loved and give love. Home is where we feel safe and secure. Home is where we are comfortable and relaxed. How amazing it is that both God the Father and God the Son come to us and make their home with us.
The Triune God chooses to live with us and in us. That is a home where love reigns. He doesn’t come to live with us “because” we love Him. “We love Him because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) When the love of God abides in us, we will also keep His Word as something precious to us. In that word of God we come to know and treasure His love, the love that gave His only Son for us, and the love that continues to provide for us, protect us and keep us. His love makes us safe and secure.
With the Father, Son and Holy living with us we have peace! A few verses later Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (Vs. 27) What tremendous peace. If the Triune God is living with us and in us, what is there to fear? When we live with God and He with us He promises, “I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid.” (Leviticus 26:6) With that assurance we can say with King David: “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)
O Lord, make me dwell with You in safety. Amen.
