Christ’s Humiliation and Exaltation
“Because I live, you will live also.” John 14:19
The celebration of an Easter service gives us a spiritual boost as we are reminded of Jesus defeating death and the grave. We revel in His promise of our own resurrection. At times, that glory seems impossibly far away and unattainable. We are afflicted in both body and mind. We tend to rely on our eyes, and we have not seen anyone glorified. The devil feeds into that doubt. We know that we have a heavenly inheritance, but it can be like living in a hut knowing that you're a billionaire.
Remember that Christ's resurrection belongs to you. It proves that your sins have indeed been forgiven. If not, He would still be in the tomb. You have the wonderful assurance that your grave will be a temporary place for your body to reside. Your faith so intimately ties you to Jesus that you will follow Him through death into heavenly bliss and glory.
As we study God's Word, we find promise after promise fulfilled. The Lord never breaks His Word. The promise of your own resurrection and home in heaven is no different. Would this be the one promise that God won't keep? We know that not to be the case, but we need our faith and resolve to be strengthened. Find full confidence in Jesus saying: “Because I live, you will live also.”
Jesus, my Redeemer, lives; I, too, unto life will waken.
Endless joy my Savior gives; Shall my courage, then, be shaken?
Shall I fear, or could the Head Rise and leave His members dead?
